A hardcore SUV that still has plenty of luxury
The land rover commander is the latest SUV to be based on the legendary Defender. It’s a big SUV that can handle just about any situation you throw at it, from off-road trails to the school run.
It’s got all the high-tech driver assistance systems you’d expect in a premium SUV, and it’s also got plenty of space to carry seven people, too. It’s more comfortable than competing sport utility vehicles like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler, too.
You get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, which means you can stay connected even when your phone isn’t with you. The infotainment system isn’t quite as intuitive as some of the options on offer, but it’s good enough and it looks pretty slick.
Exploring the Unmatched Capabilities of the Land Rover Commander: A Comprehensive Review
If you’re serious about off-roading, you’ll probably want to get the range-topping XS. But if you’re not into the idea of a full-on off-roader, the Defender 90 and 110 are better options.
They’re not exactly cheap though, either – you can easily find one for tens of thousands of pounds, depending on the trim and options. You won’t get the same off-road ability as you would with a Wrangler or Bronco, but they’re not as expensive.
Its ‘Pivi Pro’ infotainment system is very easy to use and you can get apps from a number of different providers. It has a slick, big screen in the middle of the dashboard, and it offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connections, as well as over-the-air software updates.
