Strongest Strain of Mushrooms

In this episode Oliver speaks with Paul Karasik from Psychedelic Institute about how mushrooms have helped him to heal and overcome his OCD. The conversation also covers the annual psychedelic event that they hold called Awakenings.

Strongest Strain of Mushrooms contains the psychoactive substance psilocybin (4-phosphoryloxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine). When eaten, it is converted to the pharmacologically active compound psilocin. Psilocin is a member of the indole alkylamine family and is structurally similar to the neurotransmitter serotonin (5-HT). It acts as a hallucinogen by producing effects including visual and mental hallucinations, time-distortion feelings, and increased creative visualization. It has been shown to have psychotherapeutic benefits and can induce feelings of euphoria, empathy, and connectedness.

Strongest Strain of Mushrooms: Discover the Most Potent Psilocybin Varieties

While psilocybin is the most commonly used psychedelic in magic mushrooms, other fungi can have comparable or even more potent effects. Some strains of mushrooms are known to be much stronger than others, such as the notorious Golden Teachers (Psilocybe cyanescens) and Liberty Caps (Psilocybe semilanceata).

Mushrooms grown in cultivation can often be three- or four-fold more powerful than wild specimens of the same species. This is particularly true of the new wave of cultivars being developed to produce high-potency mushrooms. These new varieties are often from lesser-known taxonomic categories, such as the Panaeolus genus. The owner of mushroom-genetics supplier DinoSpores tells me that hardly anyone wants to grow generic cubensis anymore. They are interested in albino specimens, or those that turn blue—a sign of psilocybin content—or that are very potent.
